Heavy Humidity

This week's tip may cool you off next time you see an extra pound or two on the scale! Remember that your body cools itself by convection also known as passive cooling. You see as long as your body can sweat then your body can cool itself through the release of warm water (sweat) rising from your skin. Ok; with all of this humidity around us lately your body is covered in moisture right? Well with all of that water on you your sweat has no where to go because it can't evaporate. This means that you don't cool as well but also means that you hold water. Yup, you hold water when it's humid so you may see a weight increase on days that your outside in the humidity and it could be as much as two pounds. Here are two things to remember: Assuming that your drinking plenty of water and staying properly hydrated still be cautious while exercising in humid conditions because even when consuming plenty of water your body may not be able to properly cool itself and don't worry if that scale creeps up a pound on these days. Your just holding a few cups of water naturally. An evening inside out of the humidity will return everything to normal. Have a great weekend and Stick with it, Lee
